Jack Griffith is not a name you may have heard of yet – but if you know your Martial Arts, you’ll soon know Jack. Jack Griffiths is 12 years old, but don’t let that cloud your mind. Jack is a second Dan Black Belt in Karate who has been competing for the last 4 years, in which time he has acquired a very impressive collection of titles which includes:

• 10 Austrian World Cup Golds
• 8 Italian Best Fighter World Cup Golds
• 5 Irish Open World Cup Golds
• 2 Wako European Championships Golds
• 1 Wako World Title
• 2 Cimac World Cup Golds
• 12 British Titles
• Over 100 other gold medals.

He has appeared in Martial Arts films with Jackie Chan, and Jack is also featured in the latest edition of Combat Magazine -

Spirit2Power was recently featured on television’s the Moore Show, on Sky’s Showcase channel, with Director Gulrukh Khan interviewed by Kevin Moore, in a captivating discussion of the martial arts docu-film. The Moore Show

The Moore Show Prime Time is a Chat show which airs across the UK, available on both Sky and Freesat. It is spontaneous, captivating, and unpredictable, providing great names and great chat. Its topics are varied and defy categorization, whether interviewing heavy weight celebrities or authors on unusual topics, politics, entertainment as well as business.

Julian Dale is the only Master of EagleClaw King Fu in the UK and has a school in Maidenhead Surrey. We filmed him and his liondance team at an amazing private estate in Maidenhead, Surrey. It was very colourful with a team of about 10 people, playing instruments and in costume…

The shoot with Cynthia Rothrock was really dynamic.It was a pleasure to work with such a professional, who on top of it all was also a very humble and lovely lady.

After meeting her at the martial arts show, she emailed me to say that she would like to appear in the film but was leaving in two days. I got my skates on and hurriedly got her flights changed. I also managed to get sponsorship from my local health club Esporta for the use of their studio to film her action moves in and from The Marriott Hotel, Swiss Cottage who let us film her interview in their private lounge.

Renowned Joseph Koniak, whose Grandmother founded Brown’s, the Designer store chain, has a salon at Esporta and is an avid martial artist. He kindly offered sponsorship to style Cynthia’s hair for the shoot and also agreed to take part in Spirit2Power.

Premier Inn at Hampstead offered us sponsorship for Cynthia’s one night stay with breakfast and a lovely reception with flowers and lunch for her..so we enjoyed a leisurely meal after the shoot to catch up and get to know each other a bit. I then dropped her back at the airport the next day….feeling like I had been in the presence of a truly classy World Artist.

It was great to be able to premiere the trailer for Spirit2Power at The Martial Arts Show Live in May 2011.

There were big names there and legends such as Cynthia Rothrock, known as the Queen of Martial Arts and widely considered to be the female equivalent to Bruce Lee. Also Joe Lewis…the Karate Legend.

The whole of the NEC hall was full of top class performers and Martial Artists such as Silvio Simac, Julian Dales’s Lionance team who opened the show with their colourful performance, Julie Kitchen the World champion in the ring doing Muay Tai Kickboxing and the Kwoklyn Wan (the brother of TV style Guru Gok Wan), who was doing fierce cage fighting, though in reality he is the gentlest and sweetest Soul…

Zara Phythian was also hosting and I managed to say a small speech near the end of the show up on stage with Zara, which I understand is part of the Martial Arts Show Live DVD now out for sale that it is hard to recall all of them. Needless to say, I was lucky to meet Silvio, Julian, Julie and Cynthia, and invited them to participate in Spirit2Power, as I had a stand there…where my trailer was being shown. Next year promises to be even better – and I will definitely be there!

Spirit2Power examines the Spirit of Martial Arts through stunning Martial Arts performances, exquisite forms and beautiful Katas, but also looks closely into the Spirit through mental discipline, spiritual benefits and focus, how Martial Arts bring together mind, body and soul to create a whole greater than the sum of its’ constituent parts. Our Martial Artists have spent decades training their minds and bodies to near super-human levels so they are able to do incredible things you and I would find impossible. Through the Martial Arts they have also discovered a new stronger sense of spirituality, a focus to their lives, and are driven to seek true enlightenment.

A true understanding of Martial Arts requires a person to fill themselves with the Spirit of Martial Arts – otherwise it’s been said that a person who lacks the Spirit will be unable to gain a deep and complete understanding of their particular discipline.

“The Martial Arts’ Spirit is the true master of the Martial Arts.” This martial spirit transcends everything. Martial arts teach ideals such as consideration, courtesy, respect, morality, integrity, modesty, and a positive outlook. Without these mental qualities, a student is described merely as “a monkey with a gun.”- Kyong Sik Song, Author of the OHTC Expert’s Guide to the Martial Arts.

As well as learning their particular discipline through practice and more practice, a student must come to understand the mental requirements of that discipline, focus and strength, but must also accept the Spirit – a Spirit that defines every Martial Artist worth their salt, a common vision, a standard for exemplary behaviour, great character, strength of purpose and clarity of vision. Without the Spirit, a person will never truly realise their full potential.
